① Place the purse frame on a sheet of paper and trace its shape.
Draw the lower part of the purse in any shape you like, allowing for the seam allowance.
A long, narrow shape can also look lovely. What shape would you like to make?
You only need to trace one half.
Fold the paper along the center line, add a seam allowance of approximately 7 mm to 1 cm, and cut it so that both sides are the same shape.
Do not forget to mark the points where the stitching should stop.
Make a Pattern for a Slightly Rounded
Gusset-Free Purse
You can also make a purse without a gusset that still has a little volume and a softly rounded shape.
The pattern for this purse looks like this.
The red line shows the shape traced directly from the purse frame.
The frame was then moved slightly to the left and traced again.
The distance between these lines creates the fullness in the finished purse.
Moving the frame farther will add more fullness. However, moving it too far can distort the shape or create unnatural wrinkles, so it is best to add only a moderate amount.
For this sample, the purse frame was moved approximately 1.2 cm to the left before being traced again.
Add Extra Fullness
To add fullness, hold one point on the curved part of the purse frame in place, then move the frame sideways and trace it again.

② Draw the purse body in your preferred shape and connect it smoothly to the lines of the frame. Remember to mark the points where the stitching should stop.
Make a Purse with Your Finished Pattern
Now, use your finished pattern to make a purse.
The construction method differs depending on the type of purse frame.
Personally, I love the charming look of this flat purse.
With no seam or panel break across the front, embroidery and larger motifs can be shown off beautifully.
