How to Adjust Paper Cord Thickness for a Metal Purse Frame
This tutorial explains how to adjust the thickness of the paper cord used with a metal purse frame.
Paper cord is sometimes included with a purse frame, but depending on the thickness of the fabric used for the pouch and the depth of the frame groove, it may not hold the fabric securely.
Larger purse frames have wider grooves, so thin paper cord may not hold the fabric securely.
If you are unsure whether the cord is the right thickness, try fitting it into the groove without glue first and check how securely it holds.
Adjust the Thickness of the Paper Cord
① First, carefully untwist and open up the two pieces of paper cord. Take care not to tear them.
② Take one of the untwisted cords and separate it lengthwise so that it is half the original thickness.
③ Twist one full cord together with the half-width piece to make a cord approximately 1.5 times as thick as the original.
Once finished, you can see how the thickness has changed.
The sample made in this tutorial is the middle one, which is approximately 1.5 times the original thickness.
The paper cord should feel just slightly tight.
As a guide, adjust it so that you need to apply a little pressure when pushing it into the groove.
