Adding Handmade Handles with Braided Leather Cord
These handles can be made quite easily using wire and metal fittings.
Because they are made from genuine leather, they have an elegant look that blends beautifully with embroidered pieces and other handmade projects.
For the fittings, I used this type of metal end cap.
Attach a swivel clasp to the cord and fold the end back, then crimp the metal fitting with pliers to secure it in place.
For this bag, instead of using metal fittings, I loosely twisted the cord and wrapped it securely with flat wire.
Making your own handles allows you to create them in any length you like. I hope this gives you some inspiration for your own projects!
